The hosts raced into a lead just four minutes into the encounter. Sadio Mane picked out Salah on the right and he left Watford defender Miguel Britos on his back before his low right-footed shot beat Orestis Karnezis at his near post.
The Hornets' only attempt of the half came in the 37th minute. Roberto Pereyra's whipped cross was met by Richarlison, who headed straight at Loris Karius.
Two minutes before the break Jurgen Klopp's men doubled their lead. Mane was involved again as he fed Andrew Robertson down the left flank and his inch-perfect cross was tapped home by Salah at the back post.
The Merseysiders made it 3-0 four minutes into the second half. Salah got the better of Britos again and delivered a cross from the right that Firmino flicked into the far corner.
The Egyptian star completed his hat-trick in the 77th minute after he was picked out by Mane in the box. After some neat footwork he got a shot away through a bunch of Watford defenders to beat Karnezis.
Substitute Danny Ings then found space in the box and fired from close range only to be denied by Karnezis. The keeper's save, however, fell at the feet of Salah and the forward lashed home into the roof of the net to finish off a memorable night.
